Technical Information

This site is hand written in XHTML 1.1 with Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) and scripting in the Hypertext Preprocessor language (PHP).  It was developed on Apple Mac PowerPC and iMac machines running OS X Tiger.

It has been tested on Mac, Windows and Linux platforms; OS X, X11 and XP desktops; Firefox, Safari, Opera, OmniWeb, Camino, Netscape, Mozilla and Lynx browsers, and Microsoft's non-conforming Internet Explorer, which gives the worst rendering.  Test suite »

Dynamic code generation is deployed on the server and dynamic HTML, CSS and Flash techniques on the client side.  Enarion's phpSitemapNG generator is used for Sitemaps and Wrensoft's Zoom, modified by us, for site search.

The site is served by the Apache Web server under UNIX and is hosted by 5QuidHost.  This is the fifth makeover since the site launched in 1998.
